First of the lockdown shows

2005-02-20 - 10:52 p.m.

Hi all - Loz here.

First of all, let me just say what a buzz it is to see our ugly mugs on the telly. My ugly mug that is, the other boys all have reasonably presentable mugs and shouldn't be tarred with the same brush.

I'm all high on singing at the moment after having been out to see Farnsy and Tom Jones duke it out lungwise at the tennis centre. WOW. There's some pipes between those lads.

Anyways, I thought I'd take a moment to share my PERSONAL thoughts (ie. the other guys don't necessarily share my opinions) about a couple of the other groups you may be seeing in the X-Factor lockdown shows coming up. Not giving anything away, I hope, but here goes:

Bi'ache
Kylie and Julii are absolutely off their rockers... but in the best way. They came into the vocal groups competition as a completely different sort of act to everyone else that was in there and they felt the strain early, as you'd have seen tonight. But these two are dead set music industry gonna-bes because they want it 110% and work their butts off behind the scenes. And, they are a pair of unstoppable talking machines. They're just incredible to watch when they get going. Be afraid. ;)

2XL (Father and Son)
These guys just radiate their affection for one another and they're an absolute joy to be around. What they may not edit into the final show is how genuinely hilarious these two were at lockdown as well. All the best to the two big BIIIIIG lads from the land of the long white girlfriend... ;)

Pablo
We've known the Pablo boys for years and Sam has been singing with both groups on and off for the whole time. They're mates of ours and we've always had a lot of respect for what they do and the places they have taken their group. We'll be having beers together and laughing about this X Factor show long after it's all over. As for Sammy, believe me, he asked every producer, exec producer, stage hand and camera guy he met in the auditions whether trying out with two groups would be a problem. The answer, from each and every official he asked, was "not at all, go ahead!" Rough for Sammy I guess but we all agree it's good telly.

Kaya
I think the Colonel is a touch fond of these lasses... We almost needed a leash for him when he found out our hotel rooms were connected. I've just been informed that one of the many meanings their band name has is "a Singaporean coconut jam." Quiet Colonel, I know what you're thinking!

I'd better stop before I get myself or anyone else in trouble. We're off to RogerThat studios tomorrow night to start work on tracking our first CD. It's gonna be a real challenge. Wish us luck!

:)
