Update: February 2008
2008-02-06 - 1:08 a.m.
Howdy folks and welcome to the February Suade update,
with your host, Een.
As usual, Christmas & New Year was a busy time
for us, with the highlight being our headline at the
Glen Eira City Carols by Candlelight at Caulfield Racecourse.
Frankie J Holden was lined up to host the gig, but had
to pull out last minute after a bird decided to mince
itself in the engine of the plane he was meant to catch,
which goes straight to number 1 on our list of "celebrity
excuses for being hungover."
This allowed us to stand in as MC’s for the night,
giving us the opportunity to treat Rhonda Burchmore
(aka Legs-McGee) with a once-in-a-lifetime, wrestling
style introduction. Rhondaaaaa... the Hondaaaaaa....
BURCH-MOOOOORRRREEEE!
And then there was this little exchange; somebody foolishly
gave Loz a microphone as Rhonda was introducing the
final tune:
Rhonda: Isn't Christmas a wonderful
time? This year, I made puddings.
Loz: Rhonda, I've always admired your
excellent puddings.
Rhonda (not the least bit fazed): Well,
you should taste my fruitcake. (winks)
Hear some New Demos
We know it's been an awful long time since we started
working on the nebulous third record, so we thought
we'd give you a few sneak peeks. For those of you fully
hip and down with the modern inter-web, we’ve
recently launched a Facebook band page, so come
sit on our Facebook and tell us that you love us...
Actually, that's got a ring to it...
The Suade
MySpace is still in full swing, and we’re
using both that and the Facebook page to sneakily release
some original demos that we’ve been recording
over the past year. We’ve just put two new demos
up on the Facebook page – “You Walk Away”
and “Never Seen My Face Before.” They’re
both cracker tunes, but lets just say that “Never
Seen My Face” isn’t really the kind of song
you’d take home to meet mum. See if you can guess
who wrote that one. Hmmm.
Last week, “You Walk Away” received its
debut broadcast on Oz airwaves, thanks to our friend
Jess at SYN FM. The boys even raised my talking ban
for a half hour window so I could do an on air interview
with Jess and her co-hosts! Our thanks again to Jess.
Gig dates and deets will be up soon, but I can reveal
that we’re packing two hats each to head to Tasmania
in July, we'll be seeing more of Geelong and Bolac,
plus (gasp) several shows in the city we can
finally invite you to... AND there’s
word of a gig locked in at Chapel Off Chapel later in
the year, which should be a rip-snorter.
Keep your ears open and eyes peeled for more monthly
updates!
Yours in all manner of cuddly ways, Een & da Suade
boyz.
