OCTOBER 2008

Allo allo. Loz here, I'm a bit late with the newsletter this month, due to catastrophic Vista failure, re-installation and some brand new combinations of swear words I don't think I could have dreamed up otherwise. Thanks Microsoft!

But that's okay, because it's given us time to upload a:

Special Gift for our Mailing List buddies!

So here's the scoop: the mixing guy at one of our main July shows in Hobart was nice enough to send us a desk tape of the show, and we thought we'd chop out one of the most special moments and give you guys a free live MP3 to tide you over until the next CD hits the shelves.

This is pretty much the only recording out there of us singing our favourite Celtic folk tune "She Moved Through the Fair" roughly as arranged by the amazing King'Singers. It's a haunting and beautiful tune about a sheila who dies before her wedding day, told from the perspective of the bloke who's spewing that he never got to bump uglies with her.

Woohoo! Gimme that free MP3! (4.6 meg download, right-click and choose "Save As" to keep it. No nasty DRM, and the original song is out of copyright, so you can do whatever you like with it!)

We hope you enjoy it, it's one of those songs that is unlikely to make it onto our CDs but it gives us goosebumps all over when we nail it for the right crowd in the right room. A magic song. Let us know if you like it!

What else have we been up to...

Channel 31 Christmas Special

Ah yes, that. Yesterday afternoon we taped an appearance on Channel 31's Theatre Games Live Chrissy special. To the best of my knowledge it's to be broadcast December 24th, but we'll remind you closer to the date. Quite a few special guests on the show, we just poked our heads in to sing "cuddles" and nick off. Good fun!

CD Progress

The Colonel, Rob and I have been spending a lot of time on the CD, and we're up to a point now where there's really just a few lead tracks to go before mixing and mastering. All that's holding us back is a lingering chest cold from yours truly that seems to keep on keepin' on - and I need all my pipes mucus-free to hit them big notes in Steal Your Heart and the Underpants song.

But we're definately looking at a light at the end of the tunnel, starting to talk about album names, artwork/design concepts and that sort of stuff.

In fact, we're so confident that we'll have it out before Christmas that we're planning to start accepting pre-orders for signed, numbered CDs when we do the...

Saturday November 8 Chapel show

Yep, there's still plenty of tickets left for Chapel off Chapel, and we're working our butts off to put a beaut show together for Rob's big debut, so get on the booking site and grab your seats if you haven't already!

People have been asking if there's dinner at the venue; that's a negative. But Chapel street has so much great chow you're sure to find something to wrap your choppers around - we like the soovers at Lamb's and the hearty soups at Borsch, Vodka and Tears if you can get a seat!

Hope you're loving this Spring weather if you're in Australia - damn it's good to see that sun again!

See ya soon! :) Loz ...and the Suade lads
