April Up-ya-date
2008-04-01 - 3:22 p.m.
Hey all - April already is it? Whacky doo. Well, first off, we'd better tell you about some important changes to the Manchester Lane gig on the 15th: Doors will open at 8:00pm for a prompt 8:30pm start - and thanks to the Colonel's table-banging negotiations you can now reserve tickets even without dinner bookings, and there's no advance booking fee. Call Manchester Lane NOW on 96630630 to reserve your ticket and seat for what we hope will be a milestone in Suade performances. Heaps of new music, a lot of it original, that should give you a good idea of where we're going with the CD we're working on and hoping to tour to the USA once it's done. Among the 7 or 8 brand new tunes we'll debut on the 15th are a disco song by the Colonel about a terrifying (but bloody hilarious) real-life experience he endured behind closed (shower) doors at the X Factor wrap party, as well as RoRy's excessively cute first Suade original and a "sprawling lydian epic" by Loz that's now Een's favourite Suade tune. We can't wait! When: Tuesday April 15th Time: 8:30pm DOORS OPEN 8:00 Food: Late dinner still available Where: Manchester Lane (city) How: 03 9663 0630 How Much: $18/$15 concession Manchester Lane has a limited capacity, so BOOK NOW! Last month: Geelong Suade had a great trip back down to Geelong last month to visit the spectacular Geelong College. Think magnificent Hogwarts-style buildings with vast, sprawling lawns and sporting fields whose individually tailored blades of grass each tell a hundred stories of boarding-school prankery. After arriving late the night before and being treated (?) to a fine array of strange goodies (thanks Sherm) at our mate Andy's house, Loz, Een and The Colonel ventured in to give about 7 hours straight of workshops in the unconventional three-part format. When Sam and RoRy joined us for the evening concert, the impact of our presence became obvious - young choristers went from choir-boy stiffness and dear-in-the-headlight stares to enthusiastically groovin clowns in the space of one song, with RoRy showing them the way. Enthusiasm and enjoyment seemed to lift considerably throughout the concert. And there was much cheering... and whistling of the mouth from the crowd. Luckily for us, the people paying our bill were considerably impressed also, so a very long and arduous day was left with a great sense of achievement and satisfaction. Next month: Chapel Off Chapel We're going to be doing a big show at the famous Chapel off Chapel in Stonnington very soon... will keep you posted as the details are locked in, but the important items are thus: When: Sunday May 4th (times TBC) Where: Chapel Off Chapel Why: 'Cause everyone's been asking for a weekend gig for years!! How: Call them on 03 8290 7000 How much: Not sure yet! Still a couple of bits to sort out, but as always, you'll be the first to know. Demo Releases Stay tuned to the MySpace and Facebook pages, we'll be putting new original demo tracks up in the next week or two.... ;) Look forward to seeing you all down at Manchester Lane. Can't wait to hear what you think about the new songs... Stay well :) Loz and the Colonel... And the rest of the Suade clowns.
